Since last year I’ve been working hard on a new startup which is set to launch to the public this May. I’ve kept it pretty quiet so far but im going to start giving more details on what it is (btw, the sites not in stealth mode, I just don’t want to promise anything I can’t deliver). So what is “Project Task”
The Project – Project Task
The actual name is yet to be announced so we will call the app “project task”, but the I will tell you exactly what this app does. Project Task is the easiest and fastest way to create reminders to remind you about anything.
I was sick of the complex solutions that existed for something which should be as easy as possible. How hard can creating a reminder be?
I found that most solutions would require you to enter the “event” and then the “date” the “time”. This process although easy, could be made more efficent.
Project Task uses semantic technology. This fancy word, simply means that if you enter a string such as “dinner with bob next tuesday at 7pm” our script analyses the string and extracts the date, time and event all automatically. This makes creating reminders so very very simple. The semantic features are very felixble meaning you can use natural language to communicate with the app.
The Actual Reminders
So creating reminders is going to be really simple. But what about the actual reminders. Project Task will give you 3 different options to have a reminder delivered – Email, SMS or Voice Call.
Email and SMS are pretty basic, phone calls however are a bit more advanced. Where using a pretty powerful telophony tool to deliver text-to-speech voice calls. In testing we have found many people respond better to voice calls. This option also allows you to create wakeup calls, a huge feature for corporate users.
Launch Date
Not set in stone – but im aiming for 6th May 2009. A lot of dev time has gone into this project and im finishing up some basic UI stuff before getting into extensive user testing.
I will keep you posted on the latest developments and if you would like to be a beta tester let me know.
