I custom designed the old wordpress theme for feint.me a couple of years ago. It's amazing how much design has changed since then. The old design was pretty good - but it was full of gradients, drop shadows, swooshes, and textures. Since then my design taste has changed and I would like to think my skills have gotten better as well.
Here is the before and after of the blog:
The biggest change has been building the new design without Wordpress. The new site is flat file based (meaning no DB) and uses the Kirby to compile the txt files into the dynamic site you see.
The other big change is how the site looks on Mobile devices. The design is responsive (try making your browser window smaller to see it in action). And the design uses very few images which means it won't look blurry on retina displays.
I lost some of the content I had created when I moved things over (mainly the book reviews), so I'm starting the Founder's Bookshelf from scratch. I've also got to custom build things such as the RSS feed, contact forms etc... all a work in progress.
Let me know what you think of the new design.
