Buy this bookDon’t Make Me Think was probably the very first book I read on User Interface Design. Although its fairly old, when it comes to usability the basics don’t change that much. And thats why, this book is still my recommendation to those looking to build more usable websites.
The premise behind Don’t Make Me Think is that users don’t want to have to figure out a website. The book covers how a user actually reads a page (scanning), and how they interact with the elements. This is important stuff to learn and will help shape your future designs.
This book is all about the pictures – the book contains examples of pretty much everything thats talked about. So you can easily see good and bad examples of UI.
This book should probably be read by all web designers.
