The Web Startup Success Guide

I purchased a copy of The Web Startup Success Guide a few months after Task.fm, my first startup, had launched.    It would of been handy if I had my hands on a copy before I launched the app, but I still gained some valuable knowledge which help shaped the future of my business.

The Web startup Success Guide is guide to running a software startup.  The information is very practical and discusses individual sites, platforms and tools you can use.

I do think its a valuable read for anybody looking to build a software business – this isn’t about creating the next Google or Twitter, instead its about starting small and building a business not an acquisition target.

Now although I recommend it one point to make – this book, even though it was written in 2009 is a little old fashioned in its approach.  It’s also missing a chapter on design and usability.

Overall, if you’re thinking about going into the software business, its a good book to add your bookshelf and I’m sure you’ll get something out of it.  I recommend you read it conjunction with the slightly more “in touch” Rework.
